Full Day Tour - Cape Peninsula in South Africa

The day starts after breakfast. After a short drive through Simon's Town, South Africa's largest naval base, we come to Boulders Beach where a colony of Jackass Penguins took possession of the beach. They got the name Jackass Penguins because their sound is reminiscent of a donkey.

The tour continues to Cape Point Nature Reserve. There are great chances that we will see: baboons, various types of goats, zebras and ostriches in the park.

We will then stop for lunch at a restaurant in a rural surrounding.

Full and satisfied we drive along the coast via Chapman Peak Road (one of most beautiful coastal road in the world) and via Hout Bay to the Kirstenbosch Botanical Garden, an experience by itself.

Overberg and the Cape Peninsula combine make up most of the Cape floral kingdom. This region, which stretches from Cape Point to Port Elizabeth, constitute only 0.4 percent of the earth's surface, but here there are more plant species than anywhere else on earth - more than the Amazon and over the entire northern hemisphere!

Long Beach is the largest and most walk-friendly beach in the Cape Town vicinity. Here are joggers, surfers and riders intermingle on this generous space. There are usually no bathers here because the beach is located on the Cape Peninsula's cold and wild Atlantic side. If you prefer swimming, we recommend you visit Boulder Beach. This is located on the other side of the hill in the Indian Ocean. It can vary 10 degrees in temperature between the two oceans.

There is no swimming at all in the Cape Peninsula, Long Beach, Noordhoek. Swimming is done in Fish Hoek and Muizenberg Beach where the water temperature is pleasant. Go to Boulders Beach in Simonstown if you want to swim with the penguins.
